---
ASSEMBLY: North East corner of Questacon building.
---
PARKING: Questacon car park.
---
TOILETS: Public toilets available.
---
NOTES:
---
1. All controls are on light poles.
---
2. The map is A4 colour at 1:7500.
---
3. Start/finish is at The Astronomer statue outside Questacon. After the 2003 Canberra fire Canberra artist Tim Wetherell was commissioned by the ANU to produce a sculpture from the ruins of the Mount Stromlo telescopes. The finished sculpture was named "The Astronomer" and installed in the Parliamentary Triangle, outside Questacon.
---
4. Car parking in the Questacon car park is free before 8.30am and after 5pm. Public toilets are available.
---
5. A morning event will be conducted with start times between 7am and 7.30am (course closure 8.30am) and an afternoon event with start times from 5.15pm to 6.15pm (course closure 7.15pm).
---
6. A smaller area of the map than usual has been used so run distances will be much shorter than usual with winning times of 20 to 30 minutes. Consequently the A course will be all 20 controls, with B 15, C 12, D 8 and walk 1 hour.
---
7. There is a fenced off out of bounds area on the lake shore near the National Gallery because of upgrade works to the pathway. This out of bounds area is hatched on the map. The Aboriginal Tent Embassy precinct across the road from Old Parliament House is also out of bounds.
---
8. There are some busy roads. Care must be taken crossing all roads and care taken not to shine headlamps into the eyes of oncoming vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
---
9. The Parliamentary zone is mostly quite well lit at night but some areas are in the dark and a headlamp/torch is essential if doing the event at night.
---
