Event information: Sydney Sprint Series 2016 Race #4 - Mosman

Export to calendar Back

Venue: Opposite Middle Head Oval, Middle Head Road, Mosman.
'Sprint' is the newest format of our sport. Think of it as the T20 of orienteering. At the elite level it is meant to be fast and furious, where an error of even 10 seconds could mean the difference between first and fourth placings. Courses are short (2.5-4km), with lots of controls and lots of changes of direction, and held mainly in urban environments (uni campuses, former hospital sites, sporting complexes etc).
There are 10 events in the program this season including a brand new map at Middle Head prepared by NSW Stinger Andy Hill.
Courses: Each event has 1 course of 3 – 3.5km with winning times for the best orienteers about 15 minutes.
Start Times: Between 5.00pm and 6.30pm, mainly on Sunday afternoons.
Entry Fees: Orienteering club members $10 seniors. Non-members $3 extra. Sportident hire $4 per event.
Maps: 1:4000 or 1:5000. Sportident timing used for at all events.
