Event information: ONSW Space Racing School Holiday Fun

Export to calendar Back

School holiday fun for children from 8 to 16. Venue: Bicentennial Park is the Education Centre, park in P10f.
Space Racers have 45 minutes to visit as many Space Stations as possible. However, they need to plan ahead and manage their time carefully. All Space Racers are given a map indicating the location of Space Stations and in small teams they need to work together to locate them. Space Racers generally cover anywhere from 500m to 4km at an event. The distance and speed are set by the team and can be as relaxed or intense as they want. Free introductory coaching is always available from ONSW coaches. At each station Space Racers register their personal electronic Space Key which can then be downloaded on return to Mission Control to confirm the Space Stations visited and points earned. A visit to each space station earns points but for every minute late, points are deducted. Mum, dads, brothers, sisters and friends are all welcome to tag along or even take on the challenge themselves. You only pay for the children participating. If you cannot participate with your child, an OSNW coach will shadow them around the course for safety and to enhance the experience. Are you willing to accept the mission? Entry fee is generally $10 for orienteering club members and $13 for non-members. This includes electronic timing stick hire. You keep your map as a souvenir of your adventure.
