The Level 0 course is ideal for coaches that wish to introduce newcomers to the sport of orienteering through street and urban orienteering or introductory programs at schools.

Activity
This is a single session coaching accreditation course that will involve an indoor seminar with the option of additional practical activities in the adjacent parklands.

At the completion of the course, participants will:
• Understand what orienteering is and what it involves.
• Develop skills in being able to “read” an orienteering map.
• Able to implement basic sequential orienteering exercises within a teaching/coaching program.
• Conduct practical exercises with beginners / students using a map.
• Knowledge of resources available for conducting such exercises.

This course is a minimum requirement for recognition as a Sporting Schools Orienteering Coach.
This course can be recognized for credit toward achieving a level 1 coaching accreditation.

Course Requirements
In addition to attending this course you will need to:
• Complete the free online “Community Coaching General Priniciples Certificate”.
Teachers do not need to complete the online course.
• Possess a current Working with Children Check (or teacher registration)

Course Fees
o $75.00 for non-members
o Free for Orienteering Victoria Members

You can sign up for the event through Eventor or contacting the office directly (best for school-invoicing).

All course materials will be provided by Orienteering Victoria.

Directions
The meeting room is located within the Eastwood Leisure Complex. Follow the orienteering signs upon entering the foyer. Eastwood L.C. is located at 20 Eastwood St Ballarat, opposite Woolworths. Car Parking is available at the leisure centre or in the shopping centre.
The venue is 900m from Ballarat Train and Coach Station. If you need assistance with transport please contact the activity organizer.
