QLD Fruit-fly Quarantine: the western suburbs quarantine area has recently been extended. If you live in the area please observe the rules for managing fruit grown in the area.

COVID-19 compliance:
Numbers for events will need to comply with Government guidelines; we are hoping no restrictions will be reintroduced.
However, we are keeping the pre-entry system in order to keep our caravan operators safe, maximise social distancing, track attendees and control numbers. This means all events will be pre-entry through Eventor and prepaid through Eventor / Paypal. Unfortunately prepaid cards will not be accepted for pre-entry events.

You will need to enter before midnight on Thursday before the event, but we will not be allocating any set start times.

No water will be provided at event but there are drink fountains around the campus. You may bring your own water, and consider if you need to carry water with you on the course.

Post-event picnic gatherings will be permitted provided social distancing is maintained but there will be no cake stall or communal food of any kind.

Please follow all Government guidelines for social distancing and do not come to an event if you are feeling unwell. Refunds will be available if you cannot get to the event, be it because you are feeling unwell or just don't like the weather.

All OWA members have an account in Eventor. Members, please check that your contact details including phone number are correct in your account on Eventor.

Casual members must set up an account in Eventor in order to pre-enter events. We ask that you sign up to the Casuals WA "club" to help us keep track of participants - there is no fee but you pay more for each event. There are guides on the website or another member could help you. If you have any problems, contact our Business Manager, Emma, via email at orienteeringwa@gmail.com.

Loan SI sticks (for timing your run) will be pre-packaged and issued at the Start.

We acknowledge that pre-entry requires everyone to be more organised, but we consider this is the best means of making our events COVID-safe and enabling us to continue our events.

Entry fees:
Adult concessions are obtained by selecting the appropriate Service which will reduce the fee (there are no concessions for Juniors)
Group entries (on same course) - the lead adult should enter and pay, and then advise the organiser who are in the group (names and ages) - maximimum of 5.
Family maximum - enter all the family members in one transaction and the system will calculate the maximum fee.

Start times from 1:30 pm - 3 pm. Courses close at 4:00pm sharp. Please return to the assembly area by 4:00pm even if you have not completed your course.

Courses: Long Hard, Medium Hard, Short Hard, Easy
See Information Flyer for course lengths. Expected winning times are 12 to 15 minutes.
Control descriptions are available in the Documents and Links, and there are two versions of control descriptions for each course - IOF symbols and text. The control descriptions in text format will also be printed on the maps.

Map: map scale is 1:4000 with 2 metre contour intervals.
The school map has been updated to include the new primary school area, in the NE part, and other changes that have occurred over the years. The map is compliant with the 2017 and 2018 sprint map standards.

Directions: Hale School, Hale Rd, Wembley Downs
Enter at the main school entrance on Hale Rd - this is Gate A, the eastern-most gate. Look for the orienteering sign.
In the school grounds proceed slowly, keep to the right at the first intersection, then continue on the right to the Pavilion, which is between the ovals on the north side of the school buildings. There is some parking near the Pavilion but later arrivals will need to park on the east side of the tennis courts and swimming pool. Please park in designated areas only.
